Farah Abdelbary Counselor

Farah uses approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Exposure Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitisation in treatment, but she incorporates an integrative approach in therapy, considering individual differences and tailoring the therapy approach to fit the needs of each client. She believes that this approach respects the unique needs of each client and provides a safe place for the clients to reach their full potential in therapy. 

She received training in El Rakhawy hospital for mental health as well as 57357 Children’s cancer hospital psychology department. She also worked in the rehabilitation unit in Kasr Al Ainy psychiatry for 2 years, where she provided both individual and group therapy sessions, for those suffering from substance abuse disorders. She also worked at Medecins Sans Frontieres for two years, providing individual and group therapy sessions for refugees. Her time at MSF provided her with extensive experience in post-traumatic stress disorder and depression. 

Farah has also received training by Trauma Aid UK on Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). A therapy approach designed to reduce symptoms for a wide range of disorders such as PTSD, depression, anxiety and substance abuse.  She also has experience in working with adults, adolescents and families in settings of both individual and group therapy. She has experience working with substance use, depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, personality disorders and self-esteem.
